Chamber Announces 2021 Members of the Year at Casino Night
OPELOUSAS, LA- Everyone was a winner at the Chamber Casino Night and Awards Banquet where local organizations Opelousas General Health System and CASA St. Landry Evangeline took home the Large and Small Member of the Year awards. Patrons enjoyed St. Landry’s own, Geno Delafose and the Rockin Cajun Boogie and live Casino Gaming throughout the night.
The evening began with a VIP Cocktail hour where guests were greeted by Chamber CEO, Raquel Manuel, who presented the evenings award finalists. Followed by the unveiling of the Chamber Member of the Year Award recipients. Large Member of the Year, Opelousas General Health System, was nominated for their continued support and proactive response of the COVID-19 Pandemic as well as their high quality of service and resources throughout St. Landry and the surrounding areas. Small Member of the Year, CASA St. Landry- Evangeline, was nominated for their commitment of service to those children and advocates whom are in the local court system. Their work throughout the year provides children with stability and a voice during difficult circumstances.
“It goes without saying that both of tonight’s Members of the Year were more than worthy of these awards,” said Manuel. “Chamber members, both in the non-profit and private sectors go above and beyond to show their investment and commitment to our community and all of our finalists should be celebrate for that.”
The Chamber also announced their Ambassador of the Year during Casino Night. Shelly Fontenot, Physician and Community Liaison for Opelousas General Health System, received the honor for her community service and philanthropic endeavors in 2020. She is a founding member of the Chamber Ambassadors and an active member in both the Opelousas Kiwanis Club and OGHS Paint the Town Pink.
